Design for a book featuring a collection of western scarves with narrative of scarf history and uses [ for Gibbs Smith Publisher ].
The direction received for this book project was to make it feel “fresh and fun”—and because scarves are all pretty much the same dimensions, to make sure the pages showing individual scarves didn’t feel too redundant. After reading through the chapter titles, I knew I wanted to feature them using typographic variety, reminiscent of western victorian posters, but with a fresh spin. By grouping similar individual scarves, and alternating them with large art directed photos, I was able to create pacing to move the reader through the pages.
