The beautiful, serene image that author Melanie Tidwell selected for the book’s cover set the desired tone for the design of the entire project. Any beautifully-designed text-only book needs to rely on elements that may go unnoticed by most readers—a classic, easily-legible font with proper spacing, as well as extra visual treats like beautiful drop caps, letter-spaced title treatments, and just the right balance of flourishes and graphic treatments in the folios and headers. Every detail was carefully considered, including the choice to print on cream stock rather than the standard white—emphasizing warmth and softness in the book’s message.
